GREETING FROM THE PRESIDENT OF ACECOVA

Thanks to the collaboration between the Valencia Region Hotel and Tourism Business Confederation (CONHOSTUR) and the Valencia Region Coeliacs' Association (ACECOVA) during recent years, an ambitious project has been undertaken to meet the special dietary requirements of coeliacs.

The unquestionable interest of this project once again highlights the social commitment of the hotel and catering sector to promoting healthy diets and good eating habits. In this case, the aim is to provide a solution for the serious eating disorders that coeliacs suffer as a result of their gluten intolerance. The project will certainly be of interest to the restaurant business itself and in terms of the Region's appeal as a tourist destination.

The creation of the Coeliac-friendly Restaurant Club will make the Valencia Region the top Mediterranean tourist destination for coeliacs thanks to the development of a network of establishments ensuring that the dishes offered by restaurants are adapted to the nutritional needs of coeliacs. The creation of this network will also make it easier to find a nearby coeliac-friendly establishment from any part of the Valencia Region.

Without doubt, this is a project of great social interest, especially in a Region that has traditionally been dedicated to welcoming and caring for its visitors. In the case of coeliacs, it also requires technical and professional commitment to offer a high-quality service.

This project would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of the Valencia Region Coeliacs' Association, the Spanish Coeliacs' Federation and the Valencia Regional Government's Department of Tourism, which have put their belief and commitment into this project since the beginning.
